Banking That Moves at the Speed of You
CBS PEWOSA SACCO is building a new digital banking experience — mobile-first, branchless when you need it, and human when you want it. Here is what is coming, and what it means for our members.
embers shouldn't have to queue at a branch to check a balance, repay a loan, or move money to a relative. The next chapter of CBS PEWOSA SACCO is being built around that simple idea — that the SACCO should fit into your day, not the other way around.
Over the coming year we are rolling out a coordinated set of digital banking developments — from mobile-money integration that's already live, to a dedicated mobile app, USSD self-service, and a member portal that puts your account, your loans, and your savings goals in one place. None of this replaces the human relationship that has always defined this SACCO. It makes that relationship easier to maintain.
Mobile Money — already in your pocket
Members can already make deposits and check balances using MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money — no branch visit needed. Whether you're in Kampala or Kassanda, your phone is now your banking hall.
-
Deposit to your SACCO account directly from MTN or Airtel — dial
*165*6*3#on MTN or*185*7*3#on Airtel. - Instant confirmation via SMS — no waiting for a teller to confirm receipt.
- Loan repayment through mobile money — useful for members in upcountry districts and the diaspora.
USSD self-service — banking without internet
For members without smartphones or reliable data, we're launching a dedicated USSD short-code that turns any phone into a banking terminal. Dial a short code, follow the prompts, and:
- Check your savings, loan and share account balances.
- Request a mini-statement of recent transactions.
- Initiate a loan enquiry without coming to the office.
- Receive announcements and AGM notifications via SMS.
"Our members shouldn't have to choose between trust and convenience. We are building both — at the same time, on the same platform."

The CBS PEWOSA mobile app
A dedicated app for Android and iOS that puts the full SACCO experience in your hand. Designed with input from real members — not banking executives — and built around the moments that matter:
- Live balances and statements across savings, loans and shares.
- Apply for a loan from the app — submit documents, track status, sign electronically.
- Savings goals and reminders — set a target, schedule automatic deposits, watch your progress.
- In-app chat with a loans officer — get answers without travelling to the office.
- Secure biometric login — fingerprint or face unlock, encrypted end-to-end.
A web member portal for the bigger view
For diaspora members, business owners managing multiple group accounts, and anyone who wants a deeper view of their SACCO relationship, the web member portal will offer downloadable statements, dividend calculations, governance documents, AGM voting, and integration with accounting software. It's the SACCO of the future — quiet, capable, and respectful of your time.

Security and privacy come first
Every digital tool we deploy is engineered with member safety as the first priority. End-to-end encryption protects every transaction, multi-factor authentication guards against unauthorised access, and our systems are audited regularly against the standards expected of regulated cooperative financial institutions in Uganda.
If you ever see something suspicious — a strange message, an unexpected transaction, an unfamiliar device on your account — our support line is staffed by humans, not bots, and we will act fast.
Banking, on your terms.
Be among the first members to test the new tools as they roll out. Join CBS PEWOSA SACCO today and you'll get early access to the mobile app pilot, USSD service, and member portal as each launches.
